Maya OS

Maya OS is a new operating system developed by the Indian government’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), C-DAC & NIC for the Indian Ministry of Defence. It is based on the open-source Ubuntu platform and is designed to be more secure and reliable than Microsoft Windows. Maya OS has been developed in response to the increasing number of cyberattacks that have targeted India’s critical infrastructure and defense systems.
Maya OS introduces the Chakravyuh feature, an end-point anti-malware and antivirus software. It acts as a protective layer between users and the internet, thwarting unauthorized access attempts and safeguarding sensitive data.

Maya OS has a number of features that make it more secure than Windows, including:

01. A sandboxed security architecture that isolates applications from each other and from the operating system kernel, making it more difficult for malware to spread.
02. A rootkit detection and prevention system that can identify and remove malicious software that has infected the system at a low level.
03. A secure boot process that prevents malware from being loaded before the operating system starts.
04. A hardened kernel that is resistant to exploitation by known vulnerabilities.

Maya OS also has a number of features that make it more reliable than Windows, including:

01. A long-term support (LTS) release cycle that ensures that users will receive security updates and bug fixes for at least five years.
02. A rolling release model that means that new features and bug fixes are released on a regular basis, without the need for a major version upgrade.
03. A robust testing process that ensures that Maya OS is stable and reliable before it is released to users.

Maya OS is under evaluation currently by the Indian Ministry of Defence. Reports suggest that the Maya will be installed on all computers in South Block by August 15. The ministry aims to complete this transition by the end of this year.

The Defence Ministry has said that Maya OS will not only improve the security of its computer systems, but also promote indigenous innovation and reduce its dependence on foreign software. Maya OS is expected to be adopted by the Army, Navy, and Air Force in the near future.
